Newson Academy was opened in April
2007. We are a small friendly independent drama school, offering weekly
drama classes & drama activities for children from 3 years to adults. We
firmly believe that each child & adult should be encouraged and allowed to
be creative and to use his or her imaginations.
Our aim is to build confidence and communication skills in
children and adults, to prepare them for a successful future in any walk of
life, gain new skills and to have fun whilst doing it!

A typical class will consist of:

A physical and vocal warm up. |
|
·
Drama Games and Exercises. |
|
·
Characterization & Improvisation. |
|
·
Mime, Poetry & Plays, |
|
·
Role-play, Script Work & Voice Work.
|

Classes are held on Thursday’s 3.45pm to 7.30pm & Saturday’s 9.30am to 1.30 in
Dora Honnor Room, Cornerstone Centre, St John’s Church, West Byfleet for
children from 3 years to adults.
From
September 2007 LAMDA Drama Examination Syllabus of Speaking Verse & Prose, &
Acting will be incorporated into all of the drama classes as examinations can be
taken from 5 years old. Examinations are not compulsory but do offer our
students the chance to benchmark progress over time.
