London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
LAMDA is now the
largest Examination board of Speech and Drama examinations and not only has it
gained a reputation of excellence as a Drama School and leader in examinations
in the UK, the Academy is renowned throughout Europe, Middle East, Far East,
Africa and the United States.

LAMDA offers performance based examinations, carefully refined and developed
over many years by experts in education, acting and communication.
What do they do?
LAMDA
offer a wide range of examinations including Speaking Of Verse and Prose,
Acting, Mime, Reading For Performance, and Public Speaking. The Speaking
examinations are taken individually and the Performance examinations may be
taken individually and in pairs. LAMDA also offer group examinations in
Speaking, Acting and Devised Performance. Through a range
of examinations their mission at LAMDA is to:

LAMDA
offer a wide range of Examinations and at
Newson Academy
of Performing
Arts
students will be
offered the opportunity to prepare for the following subjects:

Acting

Mime
·
Reading
for Performance
·
Speaking
of Verse & Prose
Private half hour or hour-long lessons can be taken individually, pairs or
shared; we offer the
exams in Acting,
Musical Theatre,
Reading for Performance and Speaking of Verse & Prose.
These can be taken solo, duologue or in groups. They
can be taken from 5
years upwards.
LAMDA exams are
also incorporated into the weekly drama classes.

How are the examinations graded?
The
examinations are split into 4 levels:
Introductory Examinations (Minimum Age 5)
Entry
Level (Minimum Age 8)
Level 1
(Foundation) - Grades 1-3
Level 2
(Intermediate) - Grade 4-5
Level 3
(Advanced) - Grades 6-8 - Bronze, Silver & Gold Medals.
After
students have reached Grade 8, they can then continue to study towards their
diplomas. These are:

The LAMDA Certificate
in Speech and Drama (P.CERT.LAM)
-
The LAMDA Diploma in
Dramatic Art (LDDA)
-
The LAMDA Diploma in
Speech and Drama Education (LSDE)
Students can also be entered for the LAMDA Communication
Award and LAMDA Performance Award.
LAMDA
Examinations are accredited by the QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority)
providing nationally recognised qualifications. This means that they are the
National Qualifications framework and equate with other qualifications within
the sector.
