Jo Anne Newson

Jo Anne
has
lived in West Byfleet for 11 years having previously lived in Byfleet for 26
years and has a current “Enhanced
CRB Clearance.”
Jo Anne has appeared
professionally in Commercials, Television, Film and Theatre. Her most recent
engagement was as part of the female singing ensemble for “The Magic Flute” film
directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh.
Jo Anne has run
drama workshops for the Church of Good Shepherd Easter Fun Days April 2007, 7 to
11 yrs, People’s Theatre Company Egham Surrey, after school drama club for 7 to
11 year olds, 1st New Haw Girls Brigade Company December 2006 for 5
to 18 year olds & Extant Theatre Company. Jo Anne has also experience of working
with children from 3 to 5 years for local churches & playgroups.

Jo Anne is
continually training and up dating her skills by attending various courses at
The Actors Centre, City Lit College London, 2 Day RADA Voice Conference, Theatre
Royal Haymarket, ”Masterclasses” & 2 Summer Schools at Guildford School of
Acting. She has completed a 12-week course at the City Lit College, London on
“How to Run Drama Workshops” and will be attending a week long LAMDA teacher’s
summer seminar course in July. In November she will be attending the 2 week
Stagecoach “Foundation Certificate in Drama Teaching”, a recognised teaching
qualification.
Jo Anne has
assisted for West Byfleet Women’s Instiute drama group. Taught drama for
Stagecoach Reading East as a one off session deputy drama teacher, been a drama
teacher on “Splash” performing arts summer school - Runnymede Council for 45 8
to 16 year olds’ plus worked as unequalled drama teacher for a local Secondary
School, becoming acting Head of Drama |
Jo Anne has been
engaged at a Prep School in Surrey as drama director and teacher
for the Senior leavers course of “A play in a Week “ ending with a performance
to their parents and teaching 13-year-old boys and 11-year-old girls.
“Newson Academy of Performing Arts”
is offering weekly
drama classes, private drama lessons, holiday weeks & Summer Schools, one
off workshops for Schools & Organisations for children from 3 years to adults.
Classes are held on
Thursdays
at
Cornerstone Centre, St John's Church, Camphill Road, West Byfleet
3.45 to 7.30pm. Saturday classes 9.30 to 12.30 will commence from 15th
September. Registration week is Thursday 6th September from 4.30.
Newson Academy of Performing Arts
currently has 11 students attending weekly drama classes from the age of 3 to 11
year olds, with spaces available in all classes; an adults group will be
commencing from September. The Academy gave a performance at St Johns Church
fete on Saturday 9th June,
From September 2007
LAMDA Drama Examination Syllabus of Speaking Verse & Prose, & Acting will be
incorporated into all of the drama classes as examinations can be taken from 5
years old. Examinations are not compulsory.
