All pupils perform in the end of term shows and showcases in July and December each year. We also encourage pupils aged 6 years to adults to take part in Woking Speech and Drama festival November each year at Rhoda McGaw Theatre, Woking.
A fun 45 minutes class for our youngest pupils, we take a maximum of 12 children. We aim to develop their confidence, make new friends and develop their imaginations and creativity skills.
Children will learn a range of dramatic skills through poetry, stories, plays and songs. Each half term is centred on a theme using a mixture of suitable material to be introduced to the wonderful world of the performing arts.
Each class begins with a warm up to get us focussed on Drama. The children use songs, games and exercises and then listen to a story. This is then acted out with all children taking part. We develop your child's imagination and creativity skills.
Children attend a one hour class each week. Drama is a fun way to help children develop confidence, self esteem and social skills. Children will explore a wide range of dramatic skills through poetry, stories, plays and songs. We set and expect high standards from our students and the young people in these classes will explore a variety of dramatic skills, we use a range of dramatic material. Workshops will include Improvisation, Characterisation, Mask work, Mime, Role-play; we use poetry, stories, and plays as well as exploring theatre practitioners and key theatre practises. Students will also have the chance to work towards the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations in Acting, Devised Performance, Reading for performance and Speaking of verse and prose.
Did you learn drama as child? Would you like to continue learning in a safe and friendly group? Or come and learn a new skill or hobby? Then why not give our adults class a try. It’s a great way to build your self confidence and self esteem, plus have fun at the same time. We will look at acting stagecraft skills and scenes from plays plus solo and duologues speeches. Adults also encouraged to perform in our end of term shows but not compulsory. LAMDA Acting and Devised Drama can also be studied.
Can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour and can be taken, solo, in pairs and as a group.
