2011 to 2012
March 2011 LAMDA Examinations Results
The students of Newson Academy achieved Outstanding Success in the LAMDA examinations.
We enjoyed a 100% pass rate for third year running. Children aged between 4 and a half to adult achieved: 2 Distinctions, 15 Merits and 3 High Passes a total of 20 examinations in Devised, Mime, and introductory verse and prose.
July 2011
The Newson Academy performed at the Pyrford Flower show in the main arena, Students aged between 3 and 13 years performed 3 musical theatre numbers.
Our end of term showcase “Summer Spectular” 16th July saw 14 pupils aged between 3 and 17 years.
A mixture of Lamda material including solo acting and poems, plus songs were performed to proud parents and friends.
A cheque was presented to Woking hospice for £150 and we raised a further £50 at the show from the sale of drinks and sweets.
Sunday 17th July was Lamda examination day with solo exams in Acting, musical theatre, speaking verse and prose and spoken English. A total of 14 exams, the results are due beginning of autumn term.
September 2011
Saturday 3rd Sept Open morning 9am to 2pm, places do need to be pre booked, contact Jo Anne to arrange your free place.
Classes commence on 10th September and end on Saturday 10th December.
New names for the drama classes: Saturday infants is now called “Foundation” for 6 to 8 years, Saturday juniors is now called “ Intermediate” for 9 to 11 years, Saturday intermediate is now Seniors 12 to 14 years and we have a new class “Advanced” for those aged 14 years upwards.
We also have 3 Saturday musical theatre classes, Foundation 6 to 9 years, Intermediate 10 to 13 years and Advanced 14 years upwards.

Wednesday’s performance classes 6 years upwards
October 2011
Saturday 22nd October “Mufti day” for all pupils and staff. Cost £1 donated to charity for not wearing drama school uniform. Money raised will be given to a local charity.
Half term drama workshops 9.30 to 12.30 will be running do contact us for more details or visit the holiday classes’ page.
November 2011
Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November pupils will be taking part in the Woking Speech and Drama Festival in both acting and verse classes, material will be chosen at beginning of the term.
December 2011
Saturday 10th December Show 3.30pm
The end of term show do come and join us, this is a great opportunity for every pupil to be involved in acting, dancing and singing.
Tickets are £6 adults and £3 children, with a raffle and refreshments available to purchase raising money for local charity.
Spring Term 2012
Commences Saturday 7th January and ends Saturday 31st March
During this term we will be taking LAMDA examinations Pyrford Sunday 25th March. Mock examinations will be run by a Lamda examiner 1 month before the actual exam day. In February half term week, drama workshops and exam coaching will be available. More details to follow.
New for Easter 2012 holiday workshops in dance, drama, singing and musical theatre, with extra workshops in stage make up and stage combat. Do visit the website for details or contact us for more information.
